چکیده

While investigating the one-one equivalence between various general combinatorial decision problems, CLEAVE [l] initated the concept of system functions. System functions are defined on natural numbers and their values are finite sets of natural numbers. They have many properties in common with those arising from GodeI numbering various combinatorial systems such as Turing machines, Markov algorithms, register machines and semi-Thue systems. Thus the decision problems defined for these combinatorial systems can also be defined for these system functions. Furthermore, if a property holds for a particular decision problem for all system functions, then it also holds for this decision problem for all these combinatorial systems. I n his study of the one-one equivalence between general combinatorial decision problems for system functions, CLEAVE [l] considered only a finite number of decision problems. We extended this study [5, 61 to include an infinite number of decision problems. This was accomplished firstly, by defining a generalized class of formulas in terms of a first-order language so that each formula in this class corresponds to a decision problem for system functions, and secondly, by analyzing these formulas to determine whether the corresponding decision problems for various kinds of system functions are cylinders. As stated by CLEAVE [l], we take this approach for the following reason: If P , and P , are two general combinatorial decision problems which are many-one equivalent and if each instance of PI and P , are cylinders, then they are one-one equivalent. This is the best possible equivalence one can obtain. While attempting to give counterexamples for those decision problems which could not be proved to be cylinders, we defined the concept of an n-cylinder [7]. It is a generalization of Yoma'8 [9] concept of a semi-cylinder. Its definition is as follows: D e f i n i t i o n. A set P is an n-cylinder if and only if there is a recursive function f such that for all and The function f is called the n-cylinder function for P.

An Efficient Strain Based Cylindrical Shell Finite Element

The need for compatibility between degrees of freedom of various elements is a major problem encountered in practice during the modeling of complex structures; the problem is generally solved by an additional rotational degree of freedom [1-3]. This present paper investigates possible improvements to the performances of strain based cylindrical shell finite element [4] by introducing an additio...

A New Algorithm for Optimization of Fuzzy Decision Tree in Data Mining

Decision-tree algorithms provide one of the most popular methodologies for symbolic knowledge acquisition. The resulting knowledge, a symbolic decision tree along with a simple inference mechanism, has been praised for comprehensibility. The most comprehensible decision trees have been designed for perfect symbolic data. Classical crisp decision trees (DT) are widely applied to classification t...

Some New Concepts About IT2FNs With Their Usage in Group Decision-Making Problems

Interavl type-2 fuzzy numbers (IT2FNs) are used in many real problems such as multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems, to model the opinions/judgments of experts. This paper, using centroid points and uncertainty degrees of IT2FNs, presents a new method to rank them. Also, we present new methods based on Choquet integral and various types of Power average to aggregate a set of IT2FNs...

Considering Uncertainty in Modeling Historical Knowledge

Simplifying and structuring qualitatively complex knowledge, quantifying it in a certain way to make it reusable and easily accessible are all aspects that are not new to historians. Computer science is currently approaching a solution to some of these problems, or at least making it easier to work with historical data. In this paper, we propose a historical knowledge representation model takin...

Mechanical System Modelling of Robot Dynamics Using a Mass/Pulley Model

The well-known electro-mechanical analogy that equates current, voltage, resistance, inductance and capacitance to force, velocity, damping, spring constant and mass has a shortcoming in that mass can only be used to simulate a capacitor which has one terminal connected to ground. A new model that was previously proposed by the authors that combines a mass with a pulley (MP) is shown to simulat...
